Preface

Abstract

The text constitutes a preface to a volume completely dedicated to the memory of the late Professor Jerzy Kolendo (1933–2014). In it, the author presents the scholarly profile of the deceased Master as an eminent historian of antiquity, archaeologist, and epigraphist associated with the University of Warsaw. He also describes the background of the creation of this memorial publication and shares warm, personal memories from the period when Professor Kolendo supervised his doctoral dissertation.
